WHAT IS LABIAPLASTY SURGERY?
A labiaplasty is to improve or restore the appearance of the labia. Removal of the extra skin will create a more cosmetically appealing vaginal area and improve labia discomfort from clothing or sex.
WHAT CAUSES ENLARGED LABIA?
The labia minora (inner lips) or labial majora (outer) lips may be enlarged as result of giving birth, aging, genetics, or weight fluctuations.
WHAT IS YOUR TREATMENT APPROACH TO LABIAPLASTY SURGERY?
Dr. Chen will mark and measure your excess labial skin and trim it with a scalpel. Special techniques may be used to re-create of more cosmetically appealing appearance of the labia. He will use absorbable sutures to close up the incision. The procedure takes about 1 hour.
WHAT TYPE OF ANESTHESIA IS USED DURING LABIAPLASTY?
Labiaplasty is an outpatient surgery and can be performed under local or general anesthesia.
WHAT IS THE POST OPERATIVE CARE AND RECOVERY LIKE AFTER LABIAPLASTY?
Most people return to work soon after surgery, but it takes up to 6 weeks to fully heal. There will be some swelling and discomfort, but pain medication will be prescribed to help keep you comfortable.

The goal of a smaller labia is to achieve for a more cosmetically pleasing appearance and more comfort in clothing.
